Since Best Of lists dominate the media this week I decided to do my own.

Gretchen’s Top Best Of The Best Of Lists List.

Time Magazine’s Top 50 Inventions Of 2008. Invisibility Cloak, Bionic Hand, Retail DNA Test, bullets that shoot bullets, the Global Seed Vault fortress of solitude, and ROBOTS! 2008 was an amazing year for inventions.

Time Magazine’s Top Ten Everything List is an informative look back at 2008. In increments of ten, you’ll relive the worst scandals, best photos, and biggest news stories. Although, I have to disagree with their pick for number one news story.  It’s Obama’s historic victory, Time. Hello.

Sorry Oprah, but Publisher’s Weekly is who I go to for book recommendations. The PW Best Books Of 2008 list includes every category of literature you can think of, and probably a few you didn’t know existed. Each title gets a short summary, which I find handy. Oh, and, there’s not one title on the list by Stephenie Meyer. Go figure.

There are some truly weird best of lists, like People Magazine’s Top Ten Pet Moments or MSNBC’s Top Twenty Peculiar News Stories Of 2008. It was an exciting year for sports too.  And here we have some award winning blogs of 2008.

Mtv’s Top Ten Albums of 2008. I’m not as up to date on the music world as I would like to be this year; that’s what having a toddler and a blog will do to your sitting-around-listening-to-music-time. But I’ve enjoyed several singles from the albums on this list. I won’t spoil it for you, but their pick for number one was also my pick for number one.  That clinched it for me.

Movies, movies, movies… what to say about movies. I think I’ve seen ONE movie this year. I fully intend to see some of the movies on MSN.com’s Top Ten Movies Of 2008 list. I really need to get out more, or renew the Netflix, geez. 

Eonline’s Replay 2008 is a look back at the year in celebrities. They include everything from hottest hook-ups to hottest hotties, nastiest break-ups, to cutest babies, etc, etc..  If you like the celebrity trash, check it out.
